Kenseth Wins Daytona 500

I have been a fan of Matt Kenseth and the number 17 Dewalt Ford ever since the tragic death of Dale Earnhardt Sr. Well after waiting many years Matt Kenseth finally walked away with a Daytona 500 win. The race ended under a red flag. A red flag for those who do not know is when the entire field of cars is stopped. This red flag was brought out because of rain. After realizing that the rain was not going to stop and they would not be able to dry the track NASCAR officials called the race and the leader at the time of the red flag is declared the winner. Matt Kenseth just happened to be leading at the time. Kenseth was right in the middle of it during the whole race. Some feel that this is a cheap way to win well Kenseth did too. He stayed in his car the whole time refusing to get out wanting to finish the race until they called it then exiting his car at that time. I have followed NASCAR for many years and the only time i have been happier for my favorite drivers was when Dale Sr won his first Daytona 500. Most NASCAR fans also refer to the Daytona 500 as simply the 500. The biggest racing stage of the year is the 500 and it is like the Super Bowl and opening day rolled into one. I for one just want to wish Matt Kenseth and crew a congratulations and a job well done. I can not wait to see Matt and the crew back in victory lane this season. I hope this will be a great year for the number 17 and he will once again hoist the championship cup at years end. Once again congratulations Matt Kenseth and crew and congratulations Jack Rousch on your first 500 victory as well.
